Canoe Trips – Get away from urban high speed and digital stress and breathe the fresh air; see the amazing scenery, the gorgeous sunsets and the unique wildlife. Firefly Adventures specializes in trips in Algonquin Provincial Park, Frontenac Prov. Park and the World Heritage Site Historic Rideau Canal, which runs from Kinston to Ottawa. Trips are instructional, guided, fully outfitted with food and all camping equipment provided. Learn tripping skills of canoe and campsite management, map and compass navigation, fire starting, outdoor cooking, no-trace camping, animal avoidance, canoe rescues and portaging. Seeing the stars at night from your canoe is a magical experience. For fishing, non Ontario adult residents must purchase a non resident fishing license. 12 years and under do not need a license.
Rideau Canal The Rideau Canal is a 200 kilometer long World Heritage Site, built in the 1830’s. Nearly all of the lock stations, made of limestone and wood, are still run manually! It can be paddled in small sections or paddled from Kingston to Ottawa in 7 nights while camping at the historic lock stations or sleep at local B&B’s. (where available, additional cost)
